Validation surveys
Check the existing services your next design will rely on.
Explore validations ↗Forensic M&E fault finding for contractors, building owners and facilities teams facing unresolved performance problems. Connect the design intent, installed services and operating evidence.

Explore validations ↗Bring design and operating evidence together to scope an investigation.
Explore investigations ↗The equipment is installed, but temperatures, flows or control responses are not what the team expected. Repeated adjustments have not explained the behaviour, and the handover programme is approaching.
Engin’s focus is the gap between the intended design and how the building services actually operate. Define the question, review the evidence and agree the checks needed to investigate it. The finding may relate to design information, installation, control operation or a combination; it should not be decided in advance.
This is a consultancy investigation with agreed technical outputs. Contractors and relevant specialists carry out installation, maintenance and remedial work.
What to gather before an investigation ↗Before retaining or altering existing services, establish what is installed, its observed condition and the information available. The scope may include record checks, site observations and agreed operational checks, with limitations recorded.
Forensic Validations brings those questions into a defined investigation. Ben reviews the available evidence and agrees which observations, inspections or operational checks are needed. The scope depends on the system, access and the question the project needs answered.
Example enquiry situations include uneven heating or cooling, unclear control behaviour, conflicting record information or uncertainty about existing services before alterations. These are examples of questions to investigate, not promises of a particular diagnosis.

Illustrative engineering scene. Not a client case study.
Define the question and review the drawings, reports, commissioning information and observations already available.
Establish the relevant site conditions and the limits of safe access. Agree the inspections and checks within the appointment.
Compare observations with the available design intent and operating information. Record facts separately from assumptions and matters requiring further investigation.
Explain the findings and practical options to the project team. Where appointed, support remedial decisions and follow-up checks.
Include the building location, the services involved, the symptoms and when they occur. Share the project stage and explain the decision or deadline the team is working towards.
Mention any existing drawings, commissioning records, maintenance information or previous investigation reports. State the site access restrictions and any live operational constraints.
The proposal confirms the work and deliverables. An investigation does not promise a guaranteed resolution or statutory certification. Installation and remedial work remain with the appointed contractors.
