Discuss your project

A mechanical consultant
who thinks about delivery.

From developing a design package to resolving a construction query or investigating an existing system, Engin connects technical information with the needs of the team delivering the project.

Ben is a design engineer with site experience, specialising in Stage 4/5 contractor design. That provides a practical starting point for M&E contractors, main contractors and project teams developing inherited information or resolving a live technical issue.

Engin serves London from outside the capital. Remote design work, coordination meetings and site attendance are agreed around the appointment. Discuss the project location, programme and access requirements directly with Ben.

Stage 4/5
Contractor Design

Develop inherited or partly complete design information. Connect drawings, calculations and schedules with coordination, procurement and installation.

02

Validations &
Fault Finding

Investigate the gap between expected and observed performance. Review records, installed services and operation to define the next step.

03

Contract
Support

Work through technical queries and relevant changes as construction proceeds. Keep the response connected to design intent and site conditions.

Refurbishment and fit-out.
Start with what is there.

When new work relies on existing building services, the starting information matters. Drawings may describe a previous arrangement. Retained plant may have a different duty from the one now proposed. Access and occupation may limit the checks that can be carried out.

Describe those constraints at the start. A defined review or existing-services validation can identify the information required for the next design decision and make unresolved assumptions visible.

For a live performance problem, explain the symptoms, when they occur and what the team has already checked. That helps scope an investigation around the actual question.

Choosing your consultant

Useful questions
before you appoint.

What does a building-services consultant do?

A building-services consultant develops or reviews the systems that make a building usable, including mechanical and electrical services. At Engin, the work centres on M&E design, forensic validations and technical support. The proposal defines the systems and responsibilities included.

Are M&E and MEP consultancy the same?

M&E refers to mechanical and electrical engineering. MEP commonly includes public health or plumbing. The terminology alone does not establish scope: tell Ben which systems you need covered so the relevant design responsibilities and any specialist input can be agreed.

Can you help when the M&E design is partly complete?

Yes, subject to a review of the existing information and the required appointment. Supply the current drawings, brief, design responsibilities and outstanding questions. Ben can then define the next design work and any validation required.

How much does a mechanical consultant cost?

The fee depends on the agreed systems, design stage, information available, deliverables, coordination and site work. Send the project brief and programme so Ben can propose a defined scope and fee basis. Engin does not publish a generic rate that assumes every project is the same.

Where in London do you work?

Enquiries are welcome for projects across London. Site attendance is arranged from outside the capital and confirmed for each appointment. Include the borough or postcode, access arrangements and programme when you enquire.
